Course Description: In this introductory orienteering course, students will learn to find direction and navigate using a variety of different methods, no GPS or high technology will be involved.
Learning Outcomes: By completing this course, students will be able to:
- Lesson 1: Find direction using map and compass as well as environmental methods.
- Lesson 2: Make a navigation plan based on known and available information.
- Lesson 3: Navigate in a desired direction using a variety of techniques.
- Lesson 4: Understand the factors leading to loss of direction.
- Lesson 5: Understand various methods for studying the ground and avoiding getting lost in the first place.

Target audiences
- General public, couples, families, children, team building events
Requirements
- Ability to displace yourself to the training location.
- Ability to walk in uneven ground and rocky terrain.
- Footwear providing adequate support for hiking in hilly terrain or slippery terrain with potentially unstable surfaces, such as undisturbed forest.
- Basic hand-eye coordination.
- A learning attitude.
- Recommended: your EDC gear, including your own compass if you have one.
